The beat; the slow low beat of the drum. The journey forward, moving about the landscape, stopping to visit and honor old friends and ancient ancestors, those who who warmed the land long before us. The beat progresses, slowly louder and more intense, gathering energy and uplifting spirits both present and past. Feel them, hear them, and touch them in the stone, in the water, and in the wind. The stones, standing tall, threading together the earth and heavens above us. They call to us, acknowledging our thirst for words of wisdom, unconditional love and strength of heart.
You, our guide, our medium to the past, our connection to all things spirit, initiate a sense of belonging, connecting, and respecting those who came before us. You lay a groundwork of emotion, trust, imagination, acceptance, uninhibited warrior spirit and soulful freedom to connect with each other, to the earth, the elements and our purpose of being. You allow forgiveness, wild self realization, and promote the ability to laugh, be mindful, and to share.
In these last days of our enriching tour, I will reflect on this journey of past and present. I am so very thankful for the opportunity to discover how I belong to this space in time, how I fit in, and how to continue to move forward in my journey of discovery. Almost two weeks ago, I returned from an epic trip to southwest Ireland. A land full of beauty, history, and some of the most hospitable and kind people. The trip I took was a small group tour with seven other like-minded beautiful souls to explore this majestic place. Strangers when we met, friends when we left. This was not your average tour. We saw very few traditional “tourist” stops, and our itinerary was not fixed. We got off the beaten path to explore and learn about the land, as well as give our energy back to it. It was glorious. For control-driven individuals like myself, a reminder that if we just release our expectations and surrender, everything will work out exactly as it should, and most of the time, better. It was also a journey of personal connection to dig deep and release what no longer served our highest good. That looks different for everyone. There is no linear progression or measuring stick on this journey of self-discovery and embodiment of our true self. There were many connections made, lessons learned, and a new love for another beautiful place in the world. Be kind, love yourself, and we have a chance to make this world a brighter place. Joe is a charming, gregarious, shining light of a tour guide! Born and raised in Ireland, an artist himself, he is full of Irish lore and mythical stories and familiar with out of the way sacred spaces.
